  • Ensure learners understand the requirements for installing, exchanging, removing, and commissioning non-domestic diaphragm gas meters
  • Develop the practical skills needed to safely fit and commission meters up to 40 cubic metres per hour capacity
  • Build competence in tightness testing and purging of non-domestic meter installations
  • Ensure learners can check and set meter regulators correctly
  • Develop understanding of emergency isolation controls, warning labels, and unsafe situations procedures
  • Ensure learners understand relevant gas safety legislation, including the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998
  • Build knowledge of pipework requirements relevant to non-domestic diaphragm meter installations
  • Prepare learners for both the written and practical elements of ACS assessment

  • Introduction to non-domestic diaphragm gas meters
  • Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998 and relevant legislation
  • Types of meter boxes and housings associated with non-domestic diaphragm meters

Engineers who are required to carry out work on gas meters. Those who hold valid CCN1/CESP1/CMA1 or equivalent. Must have held their gas qualification for a minimum of 1 year before extending appliance range

This course is aimed at gas engineers who need to install, exchange, remove, and commission non-domestic diaphragm gas meters up to 40 cubic metres per hour capacity. Learners must hold one of the following core qualifications: CMA1, CESP1, CCN1, COCN1, or CCCN1. Where meters exceed 16 cubic metres per hour, or installations fall outside the scope of UP/1B, TPCP1 or TPCP1A is also required, and work on meters with a medium pressure supply requires REGT1 or REGT2 depending on capacity. First fix of commercial pipework (ICPN1) may also be needed where alterations to the outlet supply are necessary to facilitate the meter installation.
