  • Connection of polyethylene and steel pipework
  • Connection of bellows type expansion joints
  • Ensure learners understand the requirements for installing commercial pipework in excess of 35mm up to 150mm bore
  • Develop the practical skills needed to safely install flanged and screwed commercial pipework
  • Build competence in working with steel, copper, and polythene pipework and fittings
  • Ensure learners understand pipework installation requirements for both natural gas and LPG
  • Develop knowledge of check meter installation as part of first fix commercial pipework
  • Reinforce compliance with the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations and industry standards
  • Prepare learners for both the practical and knowledge and understanding elements of ACS assessment
  • Support experienced operatives in extending their scope of competence within commercial gas pipework installation
  • British standards and legislation
  • Temporary and permanent bonding
  • Use of compression fitting
  • Ensure learners can make use of capillary fittings

  • Use of capillary fittings
  • Connection of polyethylene and steel pipework • Connection of bellows type expansion joints
  • Knowledge and understanding assessment preparation

This course is aimed at experienced gas operatives who need to carry out the installation first fix of commercial pipework exceeding 35mm diameter. Learners must already hold either a Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN1) or Changeover Domestic to Commercial Gas Safety (CODNCO1) qualification, and must be registered with the Gas Safe Register.

It’s particularly relevant to engineers working on commercial boiler installations and other larger-scale commercial gas systems, and is often taken alongside CIGA1, CDGA1, or CORT1, all of which require ICPN1 where associated pipework exceeds 35mm diameter.
