City & Guilds 2365-02
The City & Guilds 2365-02 Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, skills, and safe working practices required to begin a career in the electrical industry, in line with current UK legislation, industry standards, and City & Guilds requirements.
On successful completion the course learners will be able to:
Electrical drawings, symbols, and specifications
Wiring systems and methods
Cable types, containment systems, and selection
Domestic and commercial installation practicesHealth and Safety at Work legislation
Risk assessments and method statementsSafe isolation procedures
Safe use of tools, equipment, and PPE
Working safely on construction sites and alongside other tradesAwareness of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
The course introduces the fundamental principles of electrical science, including electrical units, Ohm’s Law, AC and DC theory, and basic fault-finding concepts, before exploring installation technology such as wiring systems, cable types, containment methods, and the application of industry regulations. Emphasis is placed on understanding why systems are installed in particular ways, supporting safe, compliant, and efficient electrical work.
Learners are guided through what constitutes safe and professional electrical practice, including health and safety legislation, risk assessment, safe isolation procedures, and effective communication on site. The course reinforces the importance of following specifications, working alongside other trades, and maintaining accurate site documentation in accordance with employer and regulatory expectations.
Finally, the course develops practical competence through hands-on workshop activities, where learners install and test electrical circuits using industry-standard tools and methods. Practical assessments ensure installations meet required tolerances and safety standards, providing learners with the confidence and capability to progress to Level 3 training, site-based roles, or an NVQ pathway within the electrical industry.
