Escape Locate Repair Course
This course is designed to provide learners with an update and refresher of current Escape, Locate and Repair procedures and the associated repair techniques
On successful completion of the course learners will be able to:
• State safe working practices and procedures when dealing with gas escapes and other emergencies.
• State the priority emergency actions when dealing with gas escapes and other emergencies.
• Demonstrate how to operate gas detection equipment and evaluate readings.
• Identify the factors that will lead to the safe rectification of gas escapes and other emergencies.
• State the various repair techniques.
The ELR Refresher course is designed to update and reinforce learners’ knowledge and practical competence in Escape, Locate and Repair activities on the UK gas network, ensuring continued compliance with current legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.
The course focuses on safe working practices and priority emergency actions when responding to gas escapes and other emergency situations, including effective communication, site safety, and risk control. Learners revisit the correct use of gas detection equipment, interpreting readings accurately to support decision-making and safe rectification of incidents.
The programme also explores the factors that influence successful repair outcomes and reviews a range of approved repair techniques, supporting operatives, supervisors, and managers in maintaining high standards of safety and operational performance during ELR activities.
All operatives that are currently required to undertake escape, locate and repair activities on the UK network. Managers and supervisors will also benefit from attending this course.
